Once again Artist Roger Baker and Filmmaker Gary Planken are getting set to create a field portrait of unimaginable proportions, and create a documentary of the complete story, from it’s conception to it’s unveiling, and all the great moments that transpire during the trip to……… “The Legends of Jazz Field”

To jump start the process Roger has created some initial thumbnail sketches of a few Legends he has in mind to cut in the field. The idea being that the public can help with their donations for the initial numbered drawings.

Eight sketches are now available. These sketch drawings will be numbered and signed, and will become unavailable at some point.

The eight will then become the three chosen Legends to be portrayed in the field. At that time the three chosen Legends working drawings will become available as prints, numbered and signed by Roger.

Once The Legends of Jazz Field is cut and complete, all thumbnail prints and working drawings will become unavailable. Those who have donated to help the field become a reality will have their own collectors set of this once in a lifetime event.

At that point and time on the road to “The Legends of Jazz,” only the final portrait of The Legends will become available, again signed and numbered by artist Roger Baker.

Roger would like this field to happen, either in the fall of ‘09 or the spring in 2010 and the public response is critical to making it happen. By getting prints and working drawings of the portraits, Jazz fans and the public at large can propel the project forward. All who help the project become a reality by their purchase of the prints will be invited to the field to stand on the portrait and meet with Roger for photo’s.

This project has received the encouragement of Jazz @ Lincoln Center. They think: “Its a great idea to bring awareness to jazz as a whole, and a great way to honor past legends, we support Rogers project” They will encourage the public by putting links to us from their facebook/myspace pages and other resources

The documentary dvd of The Legends of Jazz will become available shortly after, with the finale’ being our signature pullaway ariel helicopter shots.
